The speaker has multi color lights, which can be turned on and off, they look pretty cool in the dark.

This feature did not work right out the box hopefully they enable it with a future update because this feature is awesome.
I tried using the pair button on the back and the Music app and nothing. I tried to use the party connect feature with an XB32 and MHC-V71 but it didn’t work. With Party connect you can connect up to 100 sony speakers. The speaker comes with several features like Stereo Pair you get stereo sound when paired with another XB33. This speaker not only sounds great but also supports Sony’s LDAC “ high quality wireless listening”. If you put it in a corner where the sound can bounce off walls you will be impressed how great it sounds and how loud this thing can be. if you really want to get the best sound out of this speaker is all about placement. Volume wise this thing can get pretty loud that impressed me as well.
One thing I noticed the further you are from the speakers you hear less of that dep bass. The bass was pretty good, nothing out of this word but for the size of the speaker it kicks pretty well. I was quite impressed with the sound quality, it was very well balanced and the voices are heard clearly especially with the Live Mode on. Connecting the speaker with my smartphone via Bluetooth was a breeze, you can also connect it using the NFC by placing your phone on top of the NFC logo. On the top are the control buttons and on the back there is a rubber cap that covers other several buttons, and USB ports. Surrounding the rest of the speaker it has cloth mesh that feels soft on the hands.

The built quality is excellent, on the corners where the bass drivers are it is made of plastic. When carrying you definitely will not feel the weight. The speaker is just a little bigger than its predecessor XB32 and weights little over 2 pounds. This Sony SRS-XB33 is an excellent portable speaker with an outstanding sound, and cool lighting feature.
